As I recall, for many years, the family holidays were NEVER the same. We simply adjusted to the situation to maintain the discomfort. Since Andrew's release on 7.23.19, we have marked the 23rd as a new anniversary and milestone for our family. With that being said, this Christmas will be memorable, to so many people in our family as well as those who have supported Andrew during his time away.
So I thought I would interview him to really gather his perspective on being released to date, so here goes. Interviewer: How does it feel to be experiencing holidays with your family? Mr. Ewing: It feels surreal like a dream, but I am grateful and always feel a sense of gratitude for all things positive in my life. Interviewer: What has been the single most memorable part of being released? Mr. Ewing: Seeing how far in advance technology has come. It's amazing to see and know phones can record what you say into a text message, speaking into a remote for the TV and seeing that on the screen, or seeing car headlights , sitting in traffic and even hearing the train go by. So basically, seeing LIFE happening in REAL time. No bars, No cells, No Counts, No state issued clothing....you know. Interviewer: How have you been emotionally from release to now working and becoming acclimated to society? Mr. Ewing: I have managed much better than others because I have a VERY strong support system and it makes a difference. My sisters are my ROCK along with my parents! My sisters are very resourceful and intelligent. Both are entrepreneurs and my baby sister is a Corporate Trainer for a major Supply Chain Distribution Center and often trains me on any and everything necessary to function in society. My middle sister, makes sure all things relating to processes and protection is her area...they "LOVE" me unconditionally and makes sure I am proper in every way. Interviewer: What advice or counsel would you offer to others who will soon be released from incarceration? Mr. Ewing: Stay grounded, Allow people to assist you, Develop a plan and work the plan to make sure you are obtaining results. Remove yourself from toxic environments and KNOW your WORTH! It has taken some time to recall all the wonderful events and feelings of what Andrew Ewing experienced due to his twenty five year long incarceration for a crime he did not commit. After many years of being away from his family, the time FINALLY came on Thanksgiving 2019. This was a carefully coordinated visit to ensure, his mother would NEVER forget this holiday. Videos were done and will be part of the ongoing documentary for Andrew's life story. |
